Lessons from Ziora

Last week, my friends and I gathered together to study the Bible and pray. For some reason, I decided to do my own study and prayers with a 3-year old playing football.

Meet Ziora, my friend’s three year old daughter. Our history? She used to do me shakara oh, but was very welcoming that day. Of course, I let her score some goals as a good aunty and we both celebrated with hands in the air shouting. Even those adulting in real Bible and prayer could not silence us. Haha…

Classroom Conversations 4

Happy Sunday people. I hope you’ve been well? Long time no post here. But I trust you’re enjoying your life and thriving everyday. Now on to today’s short post. Just a typical classroom conversation with one of my classes as we run up to the end of this academic year.

Scene 2:

Joe: Miss, are we bringing it home?

Me: Bringing what home? (Of course, I knew what he was referring to! 😁, but he was probably not ready to be told off for asking me about the Euros 2021 in the middle of a maths lesson). So he asked again, going with basketball, netball, etc. And I gave him the look that said I didn’t think so 🤷‍♀️ And he finally sorta gave up and shook his head wondering why I wasn’t as keen as he and his mates were about football. 😂

Is football coming home tonight? Only God knows!! May the best team win!! 🙏

Scene 1:

John: “Miss, are you watching the match on Sunday?”

Me: “Why do you boys keep asking me about football? You know I don’t follow football at all.” I haven’t even watched any of the other matches. I forgot about the semifinals on Wednesday and when I didn’t hear any shouts of excitement in my neighbourhood that evening, I though I was going to be bringing a box of tissues to all my lessons the next day! 😂

John: “Miss, if you watch it, I’ll give you a tenner”.

Me: *with a face that said only £10?*🙄

Jack: “Okay, he’ll give you £20.” 🤑

Me: *same face*, as I got up from the table to walk away

John: “Miss, okay, I’ll make it your weekly wage. Common!” 🤔

Me: “Be careful not to promise what you can’t afford.” 😎

John’s mates, laughing: “Oooooo! You just got told!!”

John: “Miss, are you calling me poor?”

Me: *tilting my head 🤷‍♀️, with a smirk on my face* “I didn’t say that! Now, everyone back to work. Finish off the question you’re working on, so we can mark what we’ve done so far.”

They’re probably my favourite class this year. 😁 Please don’t tell them I said so, or I won’t hear the last of it! 😂😂
